The Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Project
Dramaturge + Director
Note: The development of this project has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Project is the working title for a multimedia site-specific performance set in the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead in St. George, Ontario. This project will bring to light a portion of Canadian history with a specific focus on the role and agency of women.
Our aim as female-identifying artists is to create a durational performance about the life of Canadian educational reformer Adelaide Hunter Hoodless that reflects the breadth of her life achievements from the introduction of pasteurized milk to building the foundation of The Women’s Institute. Audience members will experience her story through the guise of a memorial service led by a guide, while exploring her family home.
In the wake of a politically uncertain time period where female leadership should be brought to the forefront, Adelaide Hunter Hoodless’ story serves as a prime example of female empowerment and leadership, one from which we can all learn and appreciate.
